Background
CIFAX, a chemical formulation, developed by the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture Kausalyaganga, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, has earned a cumulative value of Rs. 3.06 cores during 1997 to 2023 bringing livelihood security and prosperity to millions of fish farmers across the country
CIFAX is a chemical formulation against ulcerative diseases of freshwater fishes and the aquaculture since 1997 across the whole country. Due to its application the occurrence of disease has been reduced to 60%. This formulation acts effective against bacteria and virus in various areas for the microbial load on pond and substantially increasing the aquaculture production.
Technology Details
CIFAX has gained popularity because of its effectiveness as preventive and control against ulcerative diseases in fish. The product has been very successful in fish disease management in aquaculture, since last 21 years. It has shown wide acceptability among common fish farmers of 17 main aquaculture States. Due to its application, the microbial disease prevalence rate has drastically been reduced by approx. 60%.
Licensing terms
- Nature of License: Non-exclusive
- Duration of the License: 5 years
- Licensing Territory: India
- License fee: ₹ 50 lakh applicable taxes for production and marketing in India
- Royalty: 5% on net invoice value for production & marketing in India.
- Material to be transferred: Chemical formula
- Training support: Up to 2 Persons nominated by the licensee shall be trained for the period up to 2 days. The cost of training to be imparted by the institute is included in the licensing fee. The expenses for boarding and lodging and travel of the licensee personnel shall be borne by the licensee.Additional training required would be chargeable as per the cost decided by the Institute as consultancy fee. The expenses (TA/DA/Consultation fee as decided by ICAR-CIFA) of the consultant should be borne by the licensee as per ICAR norms in vogue.
- A discount of 25% if the client is a registered as MSME in Government of India.
- All statutory compliances related to production, sales, transportation, storage and performance of the product in the field to be fulfilled by the licensee.
Role of ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA) (Licensor)
- ICAR-CIFA will grant the non-exclusive and non-transferable rights to the licensee.
- ICAR-CIFA will provide detailed know-how, Formula/Composition, and methods of preparation of aforesaid technologies to the licensee.
- ICAR-CIFA will provide a demonstration of the process to the licensee at ICAR-CIFA, within 45 days of signing the license agreement.
- ICAR-CIFA will provide technical assistance to the licensee for the execution of the licensed process/technology if required on a cost basis.
