ICAR-CIFA Celebrates 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 with Enthusiastic Participation
Bhubaneswar, June 21, 2026: The ICAR – Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar, celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2026 with great enthusiasm under the global theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging.’ More than 100 participants, including scientists, technical officers, administrative staff, skilled support staff, 1/30th casual labourers, outsourced personnel, research scholars, and students, actively participated in the programme through both offline and online modes.
The programme commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Pramoda Kumar Sahoo, Director, ICAR-CIFA, who warmly welcomed all participants and highlighted the significance of yoga in promoting holistic health, mental well-being and a balanced lifestyle. He emphasized that regular practice of yoga contributes significantly to the physical, mental and emotional wellness of every member of the ICAR-CIFA family.
Delivering the introductory remarks, Dr. Chandra Kanta Misra, Nodal Officer (HRD), ICAR-CIFA, outlined the importance of the International Day of Yoga and elaborated on this year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging.’ He stressed that yoga plays a vital role in ensuring a healthy and productive life for scientists, staff members, research scholars and students by enhancing physical fitness, reducing stress and improving overall quality of life.
The participants enthusiastically performed the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) under the expert guidance of Mrs. Dipanjali Paikray, Yoga Teacher, Dibyanshi Wellness, Pipili, Puri, Odisha, with assistance from Ms. Kasturi Paikray, Assistant Yoga Teacher. Various yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation techniques were demonstrated and practiced, encouraging participants to incorporate yoga into their daily routine for improved health and well-being.
In addition to the physical session, participants also joined an online yoga training programme conducted by Habuild (India’s First Habit Building Program for Yoga), Bothra Complex, Model Mill Square, Ganeshpeth Colony, Nagpur, Maharashtra, further enriching the celebration with expert guidance on developing sustainable yoga habits.
The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Shri H. L. Meena, Chief Administrative Officer, ICAR-CIFA, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Director, yoga instructors, organizers and all participants for making the celebration a grand success.
The celebration reaffirmed ICAR-CIFA’s commitment to promoting a healthy, stress-free and productive work environment through the regular practice of yoga, in line with the vision of holistic well-being and healthy aging.
